Educator Assessment System

National trends toward quality assurance in education prompted the University of Florida to develop an assessment system for programs that prepare university students for careers in our Nation's schools. Implemented in 2004, this Educator Assessment System (EAS) allows tracking of candidate performance competencies such as the Florida's Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs), Florida Principal Leadership Standards, and other aspects of the State's Uniform Core Curriculum. Candidates in all state approved educator preparation programs demonstrate their mastery of these standards by completing a series of tasks at a specified pre-professional level of competency. The EAS has been designed to capture data that shows mastery of the standards required by the state of Florida's Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The system is administered for the university by the College of Education.
